The North Suburban Medical Research Junior Board (NSMRJB) is dedicated to raising funds for pediatric research to help ensure a healthy and productive future for the next generation.
Founded in 1996, The NSMRJB is an Illinois not-for-profit organization and serves as a North Suburban board to the Children’s Research Fund. The Children’s Research Fund, an affiliated organization of Anne & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, has been raising funds for medical research in Chicago since the 1950s. Both organizations work to promote fundraising activities and community awareness in support of Lurie Children’s.
Since its affiliation with Lurie Children’s, the NSMRJB has raised more than $1.8 million to fund groundbreaking research in an array of disciplines through a wide range of fundraising events and activities. The board’s support has led to exciting advances in cancer, genetics and developmental biology research at the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute, one of only a few free-standing facilities in the nation devoted exclusively to pediatric research.
The NSMRJB has made a new $250,000 pledge for 2013/2014 that will support the research efforts of Stewart Goldman, MD, one of the nation’s leading pediatric Neuro-Oncologists.
Dr. Goldman is the Medical Director of Neuro-Oncology at Lurie Children’s, and is also Director of the Center for Clinical Trials Research for the hospital’s research center. He is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
